It’s On

From Whispers in the Loggia:

Well, folks, in case you were wondering when it’s gonna begin, “Bishops on Biden” is already out the gate. Not long after the Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden gave the latest contentious Meet the Press answer on when life begins in light of his pro-choice stance and the church’s teaching on abortion, Bishop Robert Morlino of Madison told his usual Sunday-morning crowd that, having seen the program just prior to the liturgy, he was shelving his prepared preach to address the theme of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Delaware senator “as Catholics.”

“You can see I’m worked up about this,” the Wisconsin prelate — like Biden, a son of Scranton — said during his weekly 11am Mass at St Patrick’s parish in the heart of the “People’s Republic.”

Audio of the unscripted 15-minute homily is already posted (as mp3); suffice it to say, it’s got money-quotes all over the place… and the Ironman reference is just the start.

One Response to It’s On

  1. Syte says:

God bless Bishop Morlino for his courage in doing his job of guiding us!

Apparently, his words have fallen on the ears of a very thirsty flock, who have been waiting to hear his words —

His homily (as of this AM, Sept 12th) has been downloaded from the Diocesan website over 6,000 times since it was posted on Sunday (Sept7th) — by almost 3,000 unique people all over the nation, the world and even from Italy and the Vatican. Over 150 websites have linked to the homily on the Diocesan server. The Catholic News agency, Catholic Online, EWTN, Catholic Exchange, and the Washington Times have carried very favorable stories on Bishop Morlino’s homily. The response is overwhelmingly positive.

In fact, in my limited research on this, I have not yet found one negative response to Bishop’s words. also ran a very positive announcement on their website (they are a local Madison Christian organization which includes Mad City Church, Capital City Church, and Blackhawk Evangelical, as well as other churches). They did not even balk at the mention of Papal and Episcopal authority in the homily, but posted a link to the homily on their website.

Thank you, Bishop for your leadership and for your courage!
In your job of teaching and sanctifying God’s people and defending His Word, you deserve an A++++++ !

Not very many people have the courage to speak the truth, and we have a Bishop who does have that courage. (Plus the humility not to mention this in the Catholic Herald.)

    Thanks be to God!
